GCI（地面管制攔截）站採用指令導引——不同於無線電語音指令，資訊是以數位方式傳送。資料鏈路讓飛行員可以保持無線電靜默，使敵方難以攔截無線電通訊並偵測到飛機。系統計算對目標的最佳接近彈道，並把受導引攔截機的飛行參數（航向、高度、速度）以及機載雷達的控制指令傳送給飛機。

Main functions and operating principle.
The GCI (Ground-Controlled Intercept) station uses command guidance - unlike voice commands over the radio, information is transmitted digitally. The use of a data link allows the pilot to remain off the air, making it difficult for the enemy to intercept radio communications and detect the aircraft. The system calculates the optimal approach trajectory to the target and transmits the flight parameters of the guided interceptor (course, altitude, speed) to the aircraft, as well as control commands for the onboard radar.
