Tung)。

Seawise Giant the biggest ship in the world, was built in Yokosuka, Kanagawa, Japan by Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd. at their Oppama shipyard. The Greek owner was not able to pay in 1979 and the unnamed ship, identified only by its hull number 1016, stayed a subject to a long arbitration process. Finally, after a settlement the tanker was sold to C.Y. Tung, Chinese shipping kingpin. The ship was refitted, lengthen by several metres and 156,000 metric tons of cargo capacity added, in order to be the biggest ship ever to sail. The name, given by Tung, was Seawise Giant.
Seawise Giant was damaged and sunk on 14 May 1988 during the Iran–Iraq War by an Iraqi Air Force attack while anchored off Larak Island, Iran and carrying Iranian crude oil. Fires ignited aboard the ship and blazed out of control, and it sank in the shallow waters off the coast. The ship was declared a total loss and was written off. In 1989, after the Iran–Iraq war ended, Norman International bought the shipwreck and repaired it. The ship was renamed Happy Giant after the repairs. In the same year Jørgen Jahre bought the tanker for US$39 million and renamed her as Jahre Viking. From 1991 to 2004, it was owned by Loki Stream and flew the flag of Norway.
In 2004 Jahre Viking was sold to First Olsen Tankers. They renamed the ship to the Knock Nevis and converted into a permanently moored storage tanker in the Qatar Al Shaheen Oil Field in the Persian Gulf.
In 2009 Knock Nevis was renamed Mont, and reflagged to Sierra Leone by new owners Amber Development for a final voyage to India where it was scrapped by Priya Blue Industries.
The ship's 36 tonne anchor was saved and donated to the Hong Kong Maritime Museum in 2010.
