GBU-31(V)4/B 是美國海軍（USN／USMC）的 Mk-84 航空炸彈 JDAM 升級型。彈頭上塗有熱灰色塗層，供航艦上使用——用以降低炸彈在燃油火災中的爆炸風險。BLU-109A/B 是 BLU-109/B 的熱防護型。
GBU-31(V)4/B 配備 BLU-109A/B 穿透型彈頭（BLU 是 Bomb Live Unit 的縮寫）。與其他「碉堡剋星」一樣，它的用途是在爆炸前先擊穿混凝土掩體與其他堅固結構。
JDAM 是低成本的套件，可把傳統的 Mk-82（BLU-111）、Mk-83（BLU-110）、Mk-84（BLU-117）、BLU-109、BLU-116 等投擲炸彈升級為精準彈藥，由經 GPS 修正的慣性導航系統導引。彈體裝有氣動力梳狀片，可延伸使用範圍，並可全天候使用。
GBU-31(V)4/B is a JDAM upgrade of the Mk-84 aircraft bomb for the U.S. Navy (USN/USMC). It has a thermal gray coating on the warhead for use on aircraft carriers - to reduce the explosive potential of the bombs in a fuel fire. The BLU-109A/B is a thermally protected variant of the BLU-109/B.
The GBU-31(V)4/B has a BLU-109A/B penetrator warhead (BLU is an acronym for Bomb Live Unit). As with other "bunker busters", it is intended to smash through concrete shelters and other hardened structures before exploding.
The JDAM are low-cost kits for upgrading conventional Mk-82 (BLU-111), Mk-83 (BLU-110), Mk-84 (BLU-117), BLU-109, BLU-116, etc. drop bombs into precision munitions, which are guided by a GPS-corrected inertial navigation system. The bomb body is equipped with aerodynamic combs, which allow extension of the application range. All-weather use is possible.
