The RPG-16 "Udar" grenade launcher was widely used by Soviet airborne troops (VDV) in Soviet-Afghan War (1979-1989). Thanks to its good accuracy and firing range, it was successfully used against hardened fire positions. (The firing range of the grenade launcher is greatly overestimated. In practice, the effective range against mobile targets does not exceed 300 m.) The PG-16V grenade launcher round, weighing 2.05 kg, consisted of a PG-16 shaped charge anti-tank grenade with a rocket motor and a starting powder charge.
